I enjoy staying at home on Friday nights more than going out – don’t judge me! It’s important part of my self-care routine, as it helps me prioritise myself and recharge my batteries. I have a bath, put facemask on, have a glass or two and watch one of these girly films that I wouldn’t watch with my partner.

So, if you also like to hide from the world on Friday nights, or if you prefer your best girlfriends’ company, check out my favourite gilry films for this occasion.

My Top 5 Girly Films

Erin Brokovich (2000)

I love this character played by Julia Roberts!Full of sarcasm Erin Brokovich is a mother of three who, despite a lack of formal training in law, becomes a legal assistant and almost single-handedly brings down a California power company accused of polluting a city’s water supply. Super mum, super woman and a super motivating film that is worth watching over and over!

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Andy, who is played by Anne Hathaway is a recent college graduate with big dreams. Upon landing a job at prestigious Runway magazine, she finds herself the assistant to diabolical editor Miranda Priestly, who has been played by Meryl Streep. Two my absolutely favourite actresses and one interesting story of a woman on a mission to prove them all wrong.

Sex and the City (2008)

Who doesn’t love Carrie Bradshaw? Four years after the earlier adventures of Carrie and her best gal pals, she and her intermittent lover, Big, are in a committed relationship. Samantha, having survived cancer, has a monogamous relationship with Smith Jerrod. Charlotte and her husband live on Park Avenue, and Miranda, now in Brooklyn, feels the pressure of family life.

Sex and the City 2 (2010)

This film is unmistakingly part of the Sex and the City story – filled with fun, fashion and friendship, which continue to define the lives of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. They have more than they ever wished for. The gals take an exotic vacation in Abu Dhabi, the sun-drenched paradise, which holds many surprises. And that’s when Carrie unexpectedly runs into Aidan.

Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016)

I like all Bridget Jones’ films, but this one is for sure my favourite! Breaking up with Mark Darcy leaves Bridget Jones over 40 and single again. Bridget decides to focus on her career as a top news producer, as she feels that she has everything under control. Suddenly, her love life comes back from the dead when she meets a dashing and handsome American named Jack. And when Bridget discovers that she is pregnant, she must figure out if the proud papa is Mark or Jack.
